Dr Tu Tran is a glaucoma specialist and general ophthalmologist. She graduated from the University of QLD in 1996 and completed her residency in Brisbane. She commenced her ophthalmology training in Wales, UK and went on to complete her Masters of Public Health (majoring in Epidemiology) before returning to Brisbane to continue her ophthalmology training. She undertook a general fellowship at the QLD Eye Institute and subspecialty training in glaucoma at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital (RVEEH). She now holds a visiting consultant ophthalmologist position at the RVEEH.
Dr Tran specialises in cataract, pterygium and glaucoma surgery with a sub-specialty in Glaucoma. She is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) and a member of the Australian Medical Association. Dr Tran is a RANZCO examiner for the Ophthalmic Basic Competencies and Knowledge (OBCK) exam and also on the expert advisory panel for Glaucoma Australia. She is actively involved in teaching glaucoma to Ophthalmology Registrars in training, General Practitioners, Orthoptists and Optometrists and is a regular guest lecturer for the University of Melbourne optometry program. Dr Tran also volunteers with a number of charity organisations, providing specialist teaching to overseas doctors and helping to restore sight for those in need in under-developed countries.
