Appointments

Consultations are by appointment only and can be made by telephoning our office during business hours. We are open from 8.00am to 5.00pm from Monday to Thursday and 8.00am to 4.00 pm on Fridays. Early morning appointments are available if required. If you need additional testing, such as visual fields or pre-operative measurement, or laser treatment, please let the secretaries know so that additional time can be allocated to accommodate this. Please note that if your pupils are dilated, it is advisable to avoid driving until your vision returns to normal.
We are able to send an SMS reminder for your appointment if you provide us with your mobile phone number. If you need to cancel your appointment, reschedule or are running late, please contact us as soon as possible.
In the case of an emergency, your doctor or optometrist can arrange urgent appointments by contacting the office.
Veteran Affairs: If you are a Gold Card holder entitled to transport, please contact us to arrange a vehicle for your appointment.

Referrals

In order to be eligible to claim for Medicare reimbursement for your consultation, you will need a valid referral from a doctor or optometrist. Referrals from general practitioners and optometrists are usually valid for 12 months. Referrals from specialists are valid for 3 months.

New Patients

New patients are requested to fill in a patient registration form; please arrive a few minutes before your appointment time to complete this. Alternatively, a form can be downloaded and completed prior to your visit. Please bring:
  • Referral
  • Medicare Card
  • Private Health Insurance Details
  • Government Pension Card
  • Department of Veteran Affairs - Pension Card/Gold Card
Please allow at least 1.5 hours for your initial appointment. Prior to seeing the ophthalmologist, an orthoptist will assess you and your eyes. It is usual for your pupils to be dilated with drops to allow the ophthalmologist to perform a thorough examination of your eyes. The drops can take up to 20 minutes to take effect, after which you will see the ophthalmologist, who will complete the assessment and examination.
It is advisable that you do not drive after your pupils have been dilated until your vision returns to normal (usually 2 hours after appointment).
We recommend that you bring sunglasses to your appointment to reduce glare resulting from pupillary dilatation.
Please see our information on location, parking and public transport

Payment

Payment for your visit is expected on the day. We offer a discount for pensioners but do not bulk bill patients. Payment can be made by Eftpos, cash, cheque, or credit card.
We respect your privacy and follow the guidelines of the Federal Privacy Act.
